A graduate of the University of Illinois, Howard majored in Architecture before going on to earn an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife Karen have 5 kids, they enjoy walking around Town Lake in Austin and spending time with family in Colorado snow skiing and four-wheeling. Howard grew up in the small town of Bedford, Indiana. After finishing his Master’s degree, Howard and Karen founded a publishing business based on his graduate thesis. After a few successful years, they sold the company to a subsidiary of Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts. Then, in October of 2000, the Owens purchased Kaemark from its founders, Gilbert and Dorothy Krause. Howard continued operating Kaemark with the same commitment to service and excellence the Krauses had always shown. In 2007, Howard passed his CEO responsibilities to Jeff Owen, who had been the VP of Sales & Marketing for 7 years. Owen assumed the title of CBO and Ben Peterson became COO. Together, they continued developing Kaemark and starting various other subsidiaries, forming Kaemark Commercial as the parent corporation.
